Hi! My name is Lonell Williamson (Lonnie), and I am the Founder and Acting Director of Salt & Light Projects, a community-based nonprofit organization established in 2025 to bring compassion, connection, and practical support to those in need.
I grew up the middle child of ten children, and some of my fondest memories as a child were joining my parents in community outreach. They led the outreach ministry at our home church in Glenarden, Maryland — and they gave my siblings and me no choice but to participate! Looking back, that’s where I first developed my deep respect, care, and love for people.
Since then, I’ve served my home ministry for many years and supported countless individuals and families in different ways. Helping and serving others has always been more than something I do — it’s who I am. Seeing people uplifted, encouraged, and grateful brings me indescribable joy.
Growing up, my family faced seasons of financial hardship and emotional and spiritual struggle. Those experiences gave me a personal understanding of what it feels like to be in need — and they made me sensitive to the struggles of others. I’ve lived it, and that’s why I serve with empathy, compassion, dignity, and care.
Today, through Salt & Light Projects, I’ve chosen to turn my story into my superpower — using my journey to inspire hope and to remind others that even in difficult times, light can always be found and shared.
